Please kindly advice how many feet away from our front-door before we compass for facing direction? There are cases in which compass measurements vary from 2 feet away from door compared to 4-5 feet away. Due to this variation, facing may change from NE1 to NE2 for my case.

By measuring 2-3 feet away, my front-door (level 12 apartment) facing is NE1 and built in Period 7. As a second owner, I move-in officially Oct 2005 and we did paint the entire apartment, install all window grills and change the stove as well. However, we did not choose any special day to fire-up our stove. In this case, which period will our home be: Period 7 or Period 8?

The most difficult part in fengshui is getting direction or facing. Varies in distance having diff reading is due to magnetic interfernce especailly if your house is still new. That is why you see us something have to go outside facing the house and take the direction. The exact opposite will be you facing.

Your house should be period 8.
