- Flying Star requires accurate compass readings and date info.
Importance of Accurate Compass Readings
Many people input generic directions like "South" or "East,"
but Feng Shui works in precise° sectors within the 360° Luo Pan system (24 Mountains).
For example:
South 1 = 157.6° to 172.5° and South 3 = 187.6° to 202.5° - this precision affects Flying Star assignments!

3. Flying Star Chart Generator (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)
Calculates the Base Star, Mountain Star, and Water Star based on:
- Construction year of the building - House period.
- Facing direction.
- 20-Year Period (e.g. Period 8: 4 Feb 2004 - 3 Feb 2024 Current Period 9: 4 Feb 2024 - 3 Feb 2044).
- Determines sectors with prosperity, illness, conflicts, etc.
4. Eight Mansions (Ba Zhai) Analysis

For houses, apartments and offices with irregular shapes, the positions of the flying stars and 8 mansions sectors might shift depending on your interior and floor layout.

Some calculators ask for "facing direction," but there's often confusion:
- Sitting : The back of the house (foundation or mountain side).
- Facing : In almost all occasions, the main door.

No calculator can yet fully simulate:
a. Roads, rivers, tall buildings, land elevation, etc.
b. Poison arrows (Sha Qi), or whether your home is at a T-junction or cul-de-sac.

but Xingfa - external forms still requires human observation or
software with satellite mapping (e.g., Google Earth overlays used by consultants).
Warning!
A critical area is the dividing line of each mountain.
Any main door facing that falls on the line is regarded as Blind Spot and is deemed inauspicious,
spelling misfortune and severe bad luck for the occupants. This is one of the worst categories.
