What to do when there’s conflict between personal BaZi and day quality?

Personal BaZi Always Comes First

What to prioritize when there's a conflict between the general day quality (e.g., Tong Shu or 12 Day Officer says “inauspicious”) and your personal BaZi says the day is favorable?

General rule of thumb is to prioritize Personal BaZi Over General Almanac. If the day, clashes with the zodiac of the day or has a “bad” officer (like 破 Po or 危 Wei), but matches your BaZi well, It supports your Yong Shen (用神) or favorable element, forms positive combinations, or activates helpful stars or deities, your current luck pillar allows such a move it can still be a good day for you personally, especially for personal matters (e.g., interviews, contracts, conversations, moving).

Why? The Tong Shu/12 Officers system is generalized - it’s like a “public weather report.” Your BaZi chart gives a personalized weather report - specific to your internal Qi and destiny cycle (luck pillar, annual interaction, etc).

But watch out for major events (e.g., marriage, surgery, home moving), best to find a day that is both generally auspicious and BaZi-aligned. If not possible, at least avoid big clashes example a "破日" (Destruction Day) that directly clashes your Day Master or crucial pillars generally try avoid for big actions, however if all parts of your BaZi benefit then it still can be good. This also very much depend of the quality of your BaZi.

Use this priority framework.

1. Avoid direct personal clashes (BaZi first).

2. Then look at Officer Day type.

3. Then check Tong Shu / other systems (e.g., Dong Gong, 28 constellations).

4. Then evaluate surrounding environment / Feng Shui if applicable.

If a day is inauspicious generally, but it’s very good based on your BaZi, you can go ahead.
