Any house or building should consider the nature of the The 4 FengShui Celestial Animals 左青龙右白虎前朱雀后玄武 formation. Click here for more...

The Green Dragon and White Tiger are believed to guard the house and should be well-balance. This formation can be achieved if both sides of the house are similar in their proportions. If additional extensions, rooms or floors are made such that one side is much larger or wider than the other side, one animal may become to powerful and difficult to control which in turn could effect the health and wealth of its occupants.

When you look at your house there should be a sense of balance and unity in its structure- one side should not look "heavy" or out of proportion with the rest. This does not means a building must be perfectly symmetrical, but must be in proportion in term of the buidling itself, and with the features and architecture around it.

FengShui at home unbalance house
Figure 1. The White Tiger is stronger than the Green Dragoin

As depicted in the figure above, extensions or additional floors on the Tiger side make the building unbalanced. As a result, the White Tiger "devour" the Green dragon and could effect its occupants in term of their health and money luck.

FengShui Shoe Shaped house
Figure 2. An unbalance house.

For a Shoe-shaped house as shown above, the master bedroom, kitchen and living room should be located at the "ankle" of the house. A lamp in the garden will create a sense of balance, and plants or trees would create a sense of support and take away the pressure away from the 'heel'.
