Dear Master,

I recently purchased your almanac but I am having some trouble identifying good dates for important situations since I am totally new at this.  :(

Would you be able to give me some guidance or some pointers as to how to pick dates?

I am interested in picking a date for choosing options for a new house/and closing on a new house?  When I look at the calendar, should I focus on just an auspicious day just for myself/husband (horse and dragon)?  I have seen days that are superb for the horse but is not necessarily an auspicious day, is this a day I can use for say an important activity?  Particularly for signing agreements that are more responsability, what type of day/ prosperity star for animal sign) should I focus on?

Here is a simple guide on how to read it without going into
fengshui/chinese astrology stuff.

1. There are 5 type of days.

Excellent day
Auspicious day
Fair day
Inauspicious day
Dire day

Choose a date that is Excellent or Auspicious

2. 2 ways to go about it:

   A. choose the Gregorian date for your event, then check if it is auspicious, or

   B. find all the auspicious chinese dates, then decide on the Gregorian dates within these.

To determine if the date is auspicious, read the sub-sections,
titled "SUIT" which list the favorable activities for the day, and
"AVOID", activities to be avoided.

Important note: Certain days are not favorable for all joyous events and are listed as “avoid important activities”
under the "Today's Gods and Killings" section.

3. Checking the Suitability

Certain days are most suitable for certain events. It will be ideal if you find one for your task.

4. Check the auspicious timing

It is important to choose an auspicious timing for important  events such as moving house and signing contract.

Check the auspicious rating either "Auspicious","Inauspicious","Moderate ".
Choose those that are "Auspicious", "Moderate " avoid timing listed as "Inauspicious".

Certain time also clashes with your horoscope.

Rat and Horse clash.
OX and Goat clash.
TIGER and Monkey clash.
RABBIT and Rooster clash.
Dragon and Dog  clash.
Snake and Pig clash.

For example for horse try to avoid Rat time (11pm-12:59am)

5. What about chinese horoscope?

Avoid the day that have “clashes” with you horoscope.

If you find an auspicious day and you do not see any of the stuff to avoid as mentioned above, you should be able to use the day.

If the day is suitable to either the Husband or Wife but not both, and you still want to use the day, then He/She must not be doing the major task like doing prayers when moving house; better if He or She  not be around.

Cheers.
