How do we CALCULATE period of house.   date of start of building or end date.  or date of transfer of ownership,  or if date of lease or rent, if person staying in the house is not owner.

what do we do to CHANGE PERIOD house.

Take the date when a new house is completed or transfer of onwership for old houses. Lease or rent do not change the period. A house need yang qi or human activity in order to considered activated.

However,  one must consider that this is activated when a home + yang qi or with human activity. Therefore, it makes some sense that although the home was constructed under Period 7, however, human activity ie.  yang qi is only present after we have moved-in. If one were to apply Flying Star chart to such a home;
never assume that the home is a Period 7 or 8 totally. Thus, if one were to do such an analysis,  best to draw two flying star charts for the home. In many instances, as the years go by,  a competent practitioner (or with commonsense anyone) can compare both charts to see which is more "accurate".
