facing direction

Dear Master Peter,

When we measure facing direction, you said "stand inside the door facing out directly in front of your main door. first one feet then 3". Do you mean we should measure by standing away from the main door in one foot firstly and then 3 feet? When I measure, I stand one foot away in front of the main door but it can't measure as it points to the wrong direction. So I stand back around 3-4 feet away from the main door. It is then pointing to correct direction, SE 470. Is that way to measure?

Actually this is only a guide line on how to measure the facing. You have to decide how to measure under different situation for eg. it is very diffucult for new houses and some times I have to go out and measure from the road and for condos I have to put the loupan outside the window in order to get the bearing. This is one of the most difficult part in Feng Shui.
